After Felix-Gonzalez Torres (2025) is a tribute to mentors who shaped Georgia’s spiritual, emotional, and artistic journey. It is a response to the thematic overview of Torres’ work written by Nancy Spector and published in 1995 to accompany the artist’s solo exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum. Inspired by Torres’ enigmatic and straightforward text pieces, the artist listed the names and the date in which she met each mentor. Done on Pages, the names are the way in which aesthetic balance is achieved. The Jean-Juan-Jan name variation originates from Hebrew, corresponding to Yohanan or “God is Gracious”. The dates are in arbitrary order as a refusal for narrative resolution. As in Torres’ work, the image has been replaced by language and the viewer is left to envision the subject.
